Michael Back has always had a talent for spotting new market opportunities and has earned a well-deserved reputation for superb execution, motivational and leadership skills. Most recently, as the Founder of Collective Point of Sale Solutions Ltd. (“CPOS”), he challenged the major banks to revolutionize payment processing for small to medium-sized businesses in Canada, eventually selling his company to Elavon, a leading global payments provider and wholly owned subsidiary of U.S. Bancorp (NYSE: USB). While there, Michael led CPOS to a Profit 100 ranking as one of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies in 2008, was named as one of Canada's Best Small & Medium Employers in 2012 and was an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2012. Previously, as a former officer of Playdium Entertainment Corporation, Michael raised over $110 million in financing and grew the company to $50 million in revenues during his four-year tenure. He further conceived of and launched the company’s most profitable business unit. It was there, essentially acting as an operator of an SME himself, that he recognized the difficulty of transacting credit and debit card payments through the banks and saw an opportunity to change that. He left the company, raised $100,000 in capital to launch his own in 2001 and transformed the way merchants accept and consumers transact credit and debit card payments. Michael is now applying his wealth of experience and formidable success in real-time transaction processing to create another much-needed solution for both time-starved, convenience-driven consumers and cash-strapped, data-deprived parking operators: Honk Mobile. Michael graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and from the Schulich School of Business at York University in 1995 with a Master of Business Administration.
